The Air Traffic Management (ATM) Division provides the core business of the company which provides the air traffic control, airspace management and air traffic flow management services through the provision of Air Traffic Control and associated supporting services in Papua New Guinea to domestic and international airspace.
Its focus this year continues to be on the capability and capacity development of Air Traffic Control personnel and also the transition to Air Traffic Management. Operationally the division continues to use legacy systems to provide service to the customers whilst the new advanced systems continue to be installed, tested and configured in anticipation of being fully operational soon.
The company remains the sole provider of air navigation and air traffic management services within the country’s airspace. In order to assure all stakeholders that it provides its services in compliance with international and national regulations and standards, it must be certified by the Civil Aviation Safety Regulator and as such it continued to maintain its fundamental Operating Certificates in respect of the services it provides;
- Part 171 certificate for Engineering and Maintenance Services;
- Part 172 certificate for provision of Air Traffic Services; and
- Part 175 certificate for Aeronautical Information Services.
