In Commemoration of the country’s 48th National Independence Anniversary, NiuSky Pacific Ltd recently held its celebrations throughout the Company in a unified effort. There was the “Flag-Raising Ceremony” in Port Moresby at the Head Office and “A Patriots Tribute Ceremony” at our respective outstations.
Staff braved the midday sun in brilliant PNG colors with hints of the various cultural ‘bilas’ to commemorate the occasion on the nominated day in Port Moresby. In Goroka, Mount Hagen, Nadzab, Tokua, and Madang, celebrations were held either off the ground with the usual spectacular birds-eye view from the Air Traffic Control Tower cab or inside the base building of the structure.
The day’s celebration was marked with the Best Dressed Patriot Award competition for the male and female categories which included cash prizes across the company.
In Port Moresby, the commemorative program began with a special dedication prayer, then the 48th National Independence Anniversary Message from the Acting Managing Director followed by the singing of the National Anthem, as the PNG flag was slowly but proudly hoisted up the pole; then the recital of the National Pledge and ending with the sharing of a meal in solemn reflection, celebratory spirits, and reinforced patriotism.
The Acting Managing Director Mr. Jordan Imal in delivering his Independence message to staff in Port Moresby reflected on the country’s progress since 1975 and how the company has transformed since 2007 amidst the nation’s development.
He conveyed, ‘’Our nation is one that has truly been tested and molded in time by over 800 different communication methods, over 1000 different social regimes, and countless experiences since time immemorable. In all these, we stand still, strong as ever and tall in height as a nation, from the magnificent highlands down to our wonderful coastlines and into our beautiful isles and islands. Truly we should and must be proud. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude and at the same time encourage each and every one of you to keep, keeping PNG in your hearts’’.
‘’This special occasion calls for reflection on the journey we have embarked upon as a nation since 1975 and as a company since 2007. Over the years, we have weathered numerous challenges and celebrated significant achievements. Through hard work, determination, and a shared vision, we have been able to build a strong and successful organization’’.
